Safe Gorton - The Old Library at Lloyd's

Safe Gorton - The Old Library at Lloyd'sThe Old Library in the the Lloyd’s building was turned into a concert hall for a musical event by a group of young performers from Gorton in Manchester.

Matt Owens, of band Noah and the Whale, opened the event and there was a short introduction by him and Barbara Merry.

Safe Gorton - Inga, Gerard, BarbaraArranged and supported by Supper Club Members, Barbara Schonhofer, Barbara Merry and Inga Beale the event was to give an opportunity to the Safe Gorton group.  The group was set up to help the youth of Gorton, a deprived area of Manchester afflicted with social problems associated with crime, poverty and unemployment. Although it is centred around the local catholic church in Gorton, Safe Gorton is non religious and supported by volunteers including a retired Detective Chief Inspector for the area.

Their aim is to fund a full time music teacher for 6 months and to build a recording studio for the community.
