This is an Insurance Institute of London (IIL) Lecture delivered by Paula Jarzabkowski, Professor of Strategic Management, Cass Business School, City University London.
In this Lloyd’s lecture, Professor Paula Jarzabkowski will be launching her book “Making a Market for Acts of God: The Practice of Risk-Trading in the Global Reinsurance Industry”. Paula and her team followed the reinsurance industry over three years from conferences in Monte Carlo, Florida and Singapore, to offices in London, Bermuda, Continental Europe and key Asia-Pacific locations. She will present the key, often surprising, findings of this unique study on how and why the industry has worked for so many years, and reflect on how current dynamics will affect the future of reinsurance. The book is already being critically acclaimed by both academics and industry leaders for its ground breaking insights into how financial markets such as reinsurance work.
