The Insurance Supper Club held a private lunch last week which was hosted by Barbara Schönhofer with Kelly Lyles and sponsored by AXA XL. The theme of this lunch was Climate Change and we were joined by Red R UK, an organisation currently responding to natural and man-made disasters all overthe world. Alison Ely, Programme Manager at Red R UK, spoke to us more on the topic and led the debate around why the Insurance industry should be at the forefront of this discussion. With the rising pressures of Climate Change, it is becoming ever more important to create proactive ways our industry can do its part to ensure a safe future for us all and reduce the significant costs it will experience as a sector due to the impacts.
Sarah Cracroft of Tokio Marine HCC, who attended the lunch, quotes “A very topical and humanitarian project, delivered informally over lunch. It provided insight to thinking about thinking, from women who want to make a difference in their area of expertise raising the profile of these projects worldwide, hence reaching out to our industry. The subjects created conversation to move very quickly forward and around so many different avenues within our business and resources, this coupled with our own personal experiences and further questions. Sharing skills and ideas or simply just stating some facts opened your mind to the possibility of opportunities for one or all.”
Thank you to everyone that contributed to this successful and inspiring event. Many discussions and suggestions were made as a result, and we look forward to working with Red R UK in the future.
