Towers Watson sponsors ISC’s inaugural Philadelphia dinner.
The Insurance Supper Club’s (ISC) inaugural Philadelphia dinner, held on 15 October 2013 at R2L Restaurant, was a fabulous success. Hosted by Patricia “Tricia” Guinn, Managing Director of Risk and Financial Services for Towers Watson, the event attracted a diverse and dynamic group of 24 senior female executives.
The event began with a warm welcome and introduction by Barbara Schönhofer, Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Executive Search, of The Jacobson Group. Barbara thanked the gracious host for her continued commitment and support of ISC and its cause. Tricia, in turn, offered greetings and thanks to all in attendance. She shared her passion for diversity and inclusion and her pride in Towers Watson’s progressive efforts and initiatives for worldwide diversity.
Dinner convened and Margaret Resce Milkint, Managing Partner of The Jacobson Group, introduced the dinner speaker – Julie Gebauer, Managing Director of Global Talent and Rewards at Towers Watson. Margaret highlighted Julie’s impressive and unique career path from actuarial leader to talent leader and lauded the breadth of her perspective and reach. Margaret also noted the strong actuarial representation in the room with almost half of the participants carrying a Fellowship designation in life, property and casualty, or retirement.
Julie discussed the issues facing diversity and inclusion and the strides that have been made, highlighting Towers Watson’s ongoing efforts. It was noted that women at Towers Watson were offered many opportunities with flexibility and impact, beginning with Tricia as a pioneer and firm role model.
A lively and thought-provoking discussion ensued. The impressive group was clearly engaged in various dimensions of female leadership initiatives, including mutual support, board appointments and mentoring, among others.
The event adjourned after dessert and received rave reviews by all in attendance.
